LUBAO, Pampanga—The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) of the municipal government here held on Oct. 24, a campaign seminar against illegal recruitment and human trafficking.
Raquel Lugtu, PESO Manager, said the seminar was conducted at the function hall of St. Augustine Parish Church in this town.
Resource speakers from the legal and workers’ education branches of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) were invited to facilitate the seminar.
Sangguniang Kabataan officials, barangay captains and their secretaries, PESO coordinators, and representatives from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and Civil Society Organizations took part of the seminar.
Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab said the seminar aims to educate the public about the various modus of hunan traffickers and how to avoid being victimized by illegal recruiters.
“Many of our people fall prey to syndicates who take advantage of their lack of knowledge and willingness to take certain risks to land a job. This seminar will give them the tool to safeguard themselves from these kinds of criminals,” Pineda-Cayabyab said.
