Announcement about 6 Barangay in Lubao Cleared from Drugs

By Albert B. Lacanlale

LUBAO, Pampanga—Six more barangays in this town have been declared to have been freed from the clutches of the illegal drug menace.
Mayor Esmeralda G. Pineda on Thursday signed documents certifying as drug-cleared the barangays of San Roque Arbol, Prado Siongco, San Rafael, Calangain, San Jose Apunan and San Nicolas 1st.

The declaration was approved by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing Program-Region 3 under Resolution No. 147-2019, Series of 2019, for barangays who have “satisfactorily complied with the parameters” set by the country’s Dangerous Drugs Board.

The certificates should have been distributed to the compliant barangays in February but the awarding was deferred due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prior to this batch, 24 villages have already complied with the parameters to be categorized as free from drugs, according to Rolan Sibug, president of the Liga ng mga Barangay of Lubao.

Mayor Esmie G. Pineda lauded the efforts of barangay officials and the Lubao Municipal Police Station, led by Lieutenant Colonel Michael Jhon Riego, in stamping out drugs in the community.

Earlier, 24 other barangays have made it to the list of places that have put an end to their drug problems. These are: San Pedro Saug, San Jose Gumi, Sta. Rita, Sta. Tereza 1st, San Agustin, Sta. Lucia, Del Carmen, Sta. Maria, San Nicolas 2nd, Sto. Cristo, Sta. Barbara, Santiago, San Pablo 1st, Sto. Niño, Dela Paz, San Matias, San Isidro, San Juan, San Antonio, San Miguel, Bancal Sinubli, San Vicente, Sta. Monica and San Francisco.

Mayor Pineda assured the group fighting drugs of her administration’s all-out support to eliminate drug dependence in every barangay of Lubao.

“We are more than half-way thru in this fight. Let us remain relentless in our campaign until the last drug peddler is jailed and all drug dependents rehabilitated,” Pineda said.
