Hundreds benefit from MEGP free Dentures, Eyeglasses Project

By Albert B. Lacanlale

LUBAO, Pampanga—Hundreds of residents of this town continue to benefit from the Mayor Esmeralda G. Pineda (MEGP)’s project providing free eyeglasses and dentures.

Mayor Pineda’s project took-off from the same effort by her father, Rodolfo “Bong” Pineda, who gave away prescription eyeglasses, dentures and free pterygium operation to thousands of residents.

Yesterday, Mayor Pineda, assisted by Dr. Alfie Bonifacio and Dr. Emerson Tan, awarded the spectacles and complete artificial dentures to more than 500 residents.

As of last tally provided by the Municipal Health Office of Lubao, 393 residents have already received their eyeglasses while 141 others have now complete dentures courtesy of the project.

Mayor Pineda said she drew the inspiration from her father in carrying out the project. This is on top of her other medical programs covering expenses of patients coming from poor families.

A pair of eyeglasses may cost at least P2,000 while a full set of dentures may be priced commercially from P15,000 to P20,000.
