
Lubao Residents Rescue Mindoro-Endemic Owl
LUBAO, Pampanga—Residents here rescued on Monday a brown owl which kind is endemic only in the islands of Mindoro.
Jovie Punzalan, resident of Sitio Palcarangan, Barangay Sta. Cruz here, turned-over the Mindoro scops owl (Scientific name: Otus mindorensis) to the municipal government a day after he reportedly found it near a muddy canal.
Municipal Administrator Elizalde Bernal and Municipal Planning & Development Officer Dan Aquino endorsed the turnover of the owl to the municipal agricultural office for proper disposition.
MAO personnel Perry Roque and Adrian dela Cruz were tasked to transport the nocturnal bird to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources office in the City of San Fernando for safekeeping.
