LUBAO, Pampanga—The municipal government of Lubao officially turned-over a newly-constructed overhead water tank to residents of Bancal Pugad on Thursday, August 6, 2020.
Mayor Esmeralda G. Pineda, together with Vice Mayor Jay B. Montemayor, Liga ng mga Barangay President Rolan Sibug and Municipal Engineer Francisco D. Waje, personally conducted the inspection of the site and approved the full operation of the water storage facility.
The 2,000-gallon stainless water tank, powered by a 9-horsepower diesel-fueled high volume pump, will supply water to about 48 households in the barangay.
This development is part of the local government’s effort to improve the water supply system in coastal areas and replace the concrete water storage that no longer meets the increasing water requirements of the residents.
“Dito sa bagong water tank, mas okay ‘yung supply ng tubig so mas masusuplayan ng sapat na tubig ‘yung Bancal Pugad. Dati, gumagamit lang sila ng hand matic na bomba. May bomba sila sa bahay nakakonekta sa pump tapos doon sila kumukuha ng tubig na gagamitin pero mas madali na ngayon dahil bubuksan lang nila ‘yung faucet nila sa bahay, may tubig na sila [The water tank will augment the availability of water so it is really helpful in maintaining adequate clean water supply in Bancal Pugad. In addition, the residents no longer have to rely on hand pumps because they can now use faucets in their homes],” Engineer Waje said.
The local government allocated P712,200 for the construction of the said project which started on May 25, 2020 and was completed on July 10, 2020.
Mayor Esmeralda G. Pineda said the residents of Bancal Pugad made the request during her campaign for the 2019 elections.
“Since we were not allowed to make campaign promises, I just kept that request to myself and granted it as soon as we sourced the funds to undertake the project,” Pineda said.
