P1.4-M earmarked for Lubao TUPAD beneficiaries

LUBAO, Pampanga–Some P1,413,320 has been allocated for 356 beneficiaries of the government’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers Program (TUPAD) in this town. The amount was released by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) thru the office of Pampanga Second District Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.Arroyo, along with Lubao Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab and other town and barangay officials distributed on Thursday personal protective equipment to the beneficiaries from 20 barangays in ceremonies held at the covered court of Barangay San Pablo II here. TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and unemployed indigents. It is a component of the DOLE Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP). Under the program, each beneficiary is hired to work for a minimum of 10 days with a daily pay of P357.00. Each was given P350-worth of protective clothing and head gear and enrolled for insurance coverage with the Government Service Insurance System in the amount of P50 covering the entire duration of their work program.

In Lubao, the selected beneficiaries are tasked to work in barangay cleanup and other emergency work, Mayor Cayabyab said.The mayor urged the TUPAD workers to promote the ecological solid waste management program of the municipality, which has become a model in the whole province. Municipal public employment service office manager Raquel Lugtu facilitated the distribution of the protective gears to the TUPAD beneficiaries coming from barangays Baruya, Del Carmen, Dela Paz, Lourdes, San Agustin, San Francisco, San Jose Apunan, San Juan, San Nicolas II, San Pablo II, San Pedro Saug, San Roque Arbol, San Roque Dau I, San Vicente, Sta. Barbara, Sta. Catalina, Sta. Monica, Sta. Rita, Sto. Nino and Sto. Tomas.
